Beyonce Giselle Knowles, born on September 4, 1981, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, actress and model. She started performing at the age of seven years, winning several local events for her singing and dancing capabilities.
She teamed up with cousin Kelly Rowland and classmates LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett to form a teenage girls' singing group. Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles became the group's manager. He resigned from his full time job to concentrate on the group's efforts. This helped in the formation of an immensely popular female only R&B music group - Destiny's Child. Destiny's Child started to grow in the 1990s, initially as Girl's Tyme, and going through many changes in its members before make a contract with Columbia Records of Sony in 1997. After that, the group produced four studio albums and acquired the status of a superhit female musical group, giving smash hits like "Jumpin' Jumpin'," "Survivor" and "Say My Name," that bolstered the groups' momentum. Beyonce briefly left the group in 2001to make her solo career. Beyonce's first solo music album debut of 2003, Dangerously in Love, was a multiplatinum hit. The album featured associations with Sean Paul, Jay-Z and Missy Elliott. It went on to hit Top Ten of music charts four times and won her five Grammy awards. Destiny's Child reassembled in 2004 and released an album Destiny Fulfilled. The group then went on a music tour and then issued a final album, titled #1's, and thereafter disbanded. Then the singer turned all of her attention on solo singing and released another album B'day in the year 2006. Beyonce released her next solo album in 2008. She released the album in two music genres, mainstream music and established R&B, which highlighted her two very distinct personalities. Knowles has co-written the majority of her songs recorded for group Destiny's Child, as well as for her solo albums. She is popular for scripting compositions that focus on self and have the theme of female-empowerment. A few songs penned by her are autobiographical, which have been taken from her own and friends' experiences. Knowles has also co-produced almost all of her albums, particularly her solo ones. Although she is not involved with the music composition, she generally suggests musical ideas at the time of production.
